Event: November 30th @ Vail Cripple Creek Backcountry
Know Before You Go (KBYG) is a free, hour-long program developed by the Utah Avalanche Center aimed at making avalanche awareness accessible to the broader backcountry community. KBYG educators won’t go into technical sciences or take the abstinence approach and tell you just to “STAY OUT” of the backcountry. Instead, the KBYG team gives you a crash course on the raw destructive and awe-inspiring power of the mountains. This is an opportunity to grow your backcountry community and lay the foundation to play in the mountains in a safe and informed manner.
This year, KBYG released a video that is directly available to the adventure community. This is a valuable watch whether you are a novice skier thinking about venturing beyond the ski area boundary or an avalanche guru. KBYG can be used as the first of many steps to understand avalanche danger and to spark conversation for those needing a quick refresher.
You’ve seen it. This season's snowfall pattern has been wildly unpredictable, making it challenging to predict the future of this winter’s snowpack. Without the usual early season October snowfall, there is a chance that this season will present favorable conditions that Colorado has not experienced in a while. Nonetheless, the big storms have yet to come and very cold nights are in the forecast.
Join us at our Vail Location November 30th for a KBYG presentation by Kelli from Whiteroom Adventures. Bring a friend and listen to the vast knowledge in snowpack regimes, don't worry the beer will be flowing.
