March 8th: Carbondale Community Avalanche Forum

Posted on February 15 2017

Join us Wednesday March 8th at 6:30 pm at our shop in Carbondale for a FREE community forum to raise avalanche awareness for our local backcountry community.

There is nothing like formal training, such as an AIARE course to get you ready for backcountry travel. This is not that! Instead it is an informal discussion lead by Blase Reardon, or local CAIC (Colorado Avalanche Information Center) forecaster. This month Blase will be presenting on lessons learned so far this season. There has been many huge snow and wind events and there is a lot of information to be gained from going over the season thus far, come learn your lessons here before you learn them the hard way!

These free events that happen at Cripple Creek Backcountry the first Wednesday of every month are an incredible opportunity to bring avalanche knowledge and awareness back to the front of everyone's minds. We all have a lot to learn and relearn and an open discussion is the best place to do this. As always we will have beer on tap for your tasting pleasure!

Blasé is a flatland gaper from Ohio, he’s got no game. Blind leading the blind.
