Daylight savings time is right around the corner, which means the ski mountaineering season will be in full swing. As the sun begins to set later each night get ready for long bluebird days in the backcountry, capped off with incredible sunsets. We are lucky enough to have this month’s full moon land on daylight savings so we plan to capitalize on the evening.
Moonrise over The Gore Range
On March 12th come help us welcome the season of spring skiing with a group uphill skin to the top of Vail. We will depart from our Lionshead shop just after 6 PM, if you will need demo gear please show up early to get your setup dialed in. We will stick to the Lionshead designated uphill route, Simba run.
If you have always wanted to try out skinning up a mountain this is the night to do it! With the Sun setting as we climb and being rewarded with the rising Moon at the top of Vail there is no doubt this will be an evening to remember.
Setting a Fresh Skin Track
The sun sets at 7:10 and the full moon rises shortly after! Headlamps are optional but with the conditions should not be necessary. Come by the shop afterwards for a cold beer!
Invite your friends and RVSP on Facebook! We will see you on Sunday, March 12th.
