Why We Like the Marker Alpinist 12 Touring Binding

The Marker Alpinist 12 is specifically designed with the uphill athlete in mind. The 270-gram weight is a welcome addition to any ultra-light touring setup. The binding features two raiser hights and a super easy step in on the toe which is essential when clipping in on exposed summits and ridges. The heel units sit on a 15 mm adjustment track so you have flexibility with different boots. Additionally, the heel has 4 mm of elasticity to accommodate the natural flex of the ski and reduce prereleases. That combined with a lateral release value up to 12 and a robust toe with a wide hole pattern makes this binding ski remarkably well.

Marker Alpinist 12 - Love them!

Granted, I'm coming from a Salomon Shift, but I loved how easy to use and confidence inspiring these bindings are. They are a breeze to step into and I didn't have any issues with premature releases on the uphill or down. Really simple and light!

I put Alpinists on all my touring setups

I have Alpinist 12's on two sets of skis now and I absolutely love them. They're light, burly, and very confidence-inspiring. The greatest compliment I can give is that I never think about them- on the way up they don't let go, and on the way down they only let go when you want them to. I don't think twice about airing it out, and I don't think twice about charging through nasty chopped up snow. What more can you ask for from a pin binding?

    Revived skis!

The techs were able to get a solid 3rd mount on a pair of skis I was considering giving away, allowing them to have a few more good seasons.

The alpinist 12 was an awesome binding to match with these skis!
