Why We Like the Weston Japow Splitboard

The Weston Japow Spltiboard is a powder surfing machine that loves deep snow, tight trees, and railing massive carves. The swallow tail shape allows riders to surf snow in a neutral stance and pick their line down the mountain. With two carbon stringers in the tail, this board puts down deep trenches when making long hard carves.

Once you experience the float and maneuverability of a swallow tail, you'll never look at a traditional shape again. This deck is so fun to ride that you may neglect your old splitboard. The carbon stringers in the tail matched with a poplar and bamboo core give the Weston Japow a lively feel when riding down the mountain. This board will have you straight-lining open bowls full of deep powder. The Weston Japow can be ridden in nearly the same size as your standard board. But feel free to size down a smidge too. With such a long rockered nose, the first cambered contact point is only a few inches from the forward foot stance pack. The extended tip ensures that you will never sink this nose and be walking out of any deep powder.  Your only mission now is to grab this board and start your snow dance to bring on the pow!

    Pow Friendly!

The Japow is an amazing swallowtail powder board! It is my go-to on deep days and is super playful and fun to ride. It floats like you wouldn't believe and is very responsive. This board is a beast on big slopes and bowls where you can really open it up and is also great in the low-angle trees for those high avy hazard days. I am 6'0", 150 pounds and the 159 cm Japw is plenty of board for me. You won't regret this decision, great board to add to the quiver as a powder specific board!

    floaty, chargy and super stable

I'm 5'4 and 125 lbs and love this board in powder - it's floaty, chargy and super stable! I love that I can land effortlessly. The cool shape is a nice bonus :) I rode the 154cm, which is def the tallest board I ever rode and I loved it in pow and trees! I added some forward lean on my bindings to make is as responsive as possible given the width, which gives it great stability.

    Pow Machine

Its been DEEEP here in the San Juans during the beginning of the New Year. The AR event has dropped multiple feet in the mountains making for a sketchy snowpack. This board makes floating down those lower angle, less avalanche prone slopes super fun! I got a bigger size this year because I found with my pack and touring gear a 154 was just slightly too small for me (5'10 150lbs) I got a 159 and I maybe could have even sized up one more. With the shortened swallowtail it makes ripping turns really easily compared to a similar length traditional board. It tours pretty well, though I do notice clacking my tails slightly more due to the shape. The new Weston precut skins are so sweet for this board, which in years past has been challenging to find a perfect fit. 100% would recommend this board to add to your quiver, I've been on it all season so far and who knows when I'll switch!

    Best swallowtail out!

This board is one of the sickest swallow tails I’ve had the pleasure of riding. Surfy and floats in deep snow like nobodies business. It can also hold a mean edge and you can carve this board as hard as you want on groomers at the resort too. Just be mindful when getting skins, Weston has a specific tail clip they designed that’s available via their website https://westonbackcountry.com/products/weston-splitboard-tail-clips

    Great Swallowtail!

Rode this board on a 3 month tour of Hokkaido and could not be more stoked on my purchase! The japow floats effortlessly in the deep pow and has a great surfy feel to it. Surprised how easy it was to get my skins dialed in and never had any issues with them in the backcountry. Rode it a few times at the resort and again was impressed how responsive it ran on the groomers too. Super fun, playful, nimble board. Would absolutely recommend in a split or solid depending on what you need it for.

    All season shred stick

This board was definitely built for powder with its large nose with a shaped shallow tail. It certainly excels in its natural environment but also has a good sidecut that performs in packed powder, choppy snow, and groomers. The flex throughout the board is dialed, with a soft forgiving flex in the nose and the stiff swallow tail gives strength in every turn
