What's better than a bright teal topsheet on one of the most advanced women's skis on the planet? The special edition top sheet of course! Throw on a blue honeycomb and some yellow wailer lions, and you'll never end up twinning on the chair lift. Did we mention the ski rips? read on:
You don't always need a 120 underfoot ski to take on the deepest powder day and the Nina 99 Alchemist is here to prove it! In the evolution of the powder ski, they first went wider, and then really wide, and then added rocker and taper shapes. In revisiting these evolutions, all but Japan deep days are plenty skiable in a moderately fat ski with playful amounts of rocker such as the Nina 99. This is an especially important consideration on the skin track, where the skin drag of a big fatty board will really negate the light weight ski.
Stealing the legendary DPS Wailer112/Yvette’s 3-D PaddleTech Geometry™ the Nina 99 is a more nimble ski with the perfect blend of rocker and variable sidecut. Generous tip and tail rocker make the ski playful in deep conditions. The Nina still has a solid amount of camber under foot to handle the variable conditions to and from the backcountry powder stashes, as well as the groomers between the pow on the resort. That camber in combination with the torsionally stiff Alchemist construction provides some serious edge grip- you can really lay these out and carve big turns on hard pack.
DPS really listened to the customer and did their product testing with their new iteration of the flagship full carbon construction. The Pure 3's are rocket ship skis that last forever, but could give a decent amount of unwanted feedback on variable snow. The new Alchemist construction provides both a more even flex and smoother ride in challenging conditions. The carbon is now vibration tuned providing dampening in backcountry chunder or tracked out mid day resort powder. The new Chassis shaping creates a better flex around the foot.
The Nina 99 Alchemist is an awesome option for a mixed use one ski quiver, equally adept on the resort or on all but the longest backcountry ski tours.
- Alchemist construction provides more flex and a smoother ride in variable conditions
- Vibration tuned carbon makes this damp ski reliable going through crud in or out of bounds
