Freeride ski on a diet? More like steady crushing pizza and IPA's, just after 5k vertical days of ripping steep lines. The Beast 98 is built on the same profile as the charging and versatile Meteorite, the go to distance and peak bagging ski for Dynafit freeride athletes in the past. The Beast line is what you get when the world's leader in uphill performance focuses on the downhill performance first, and makes it as light as possibly secondly.
This ski rips quite simply. Aggressive amounts of front "scoop" rocker, subtle camber, and an early rise tail make for a shape that can send any conditions at speed. Full ABS sidewall and an Ash-Poplar ride core give it ample stiffness and dampening when conditions change quickly on high speed descent. The carbon core ride tip reduces swing weight in tighter terrain and tip chatter in variable snow.
The snow leopard crew managed to shave an incredible 250 grams per ski on the new Beast 98 rendition of this ski- so this is not just a new paint job. Dynafit brought this ski to down around 1500 grams, which pro freeride athletes have found to be a threshold weight for when a ski performs like a "light ski" or is still able to rip. Speed up is their tag line, but this one is ready for speed down as well.
