So you want a snug precise fit in a warm boot that's light enough for big tours and strong enough to ski your favorite solid ski? The Gea is it. The centerpiece of Scarpa's touring boot lineup get's its first major overhaul in years, and we are digging 100% of the changes.
For the uphill component of your tour, the Gea is now lighter and provides a higher range of motion. Scarpa looked it's lighter offerings and borrowed what they could without sacrificing downhill performance. The lower cuff is now closed by the intuitive Wave Closure system. A single adjustable instep buckle pulls a lightweight cable from two attachment points to provide the same foot hold with less weight and breakable parts. Secondly, Scarpa's Speedlock Plus walk/ski closure is lighter, more solid, and has far less friction. The Vibram Cayman Pro full coverage sole keeps you upright on rocky scrambles or icy patches.
The downhill performance remains rock solid thanks to the 3 buckle + powerstrap inclosure and alpine esque adjustable forward lean. If you've ever skied a Gea, you know that the ankle strap/buckle feature provides incredible heel hold within the perfectly snug heel pocket. The Intuition Pro Flex G Women's liner is the most conforming liner with a heat mold out there. The liner also is specifically cut to ladies calves to keep fit and forward lean on point.
The new Gea is an outstanding all around boot capable of driving any ski in comfort and style while staying efficient on the uphill!
